Dawn Pakistan local: Babar and Nadeem bat well in Super Cup

Karachi, Dec 20: A 129-run second wicket partnership between Babar Javed and Nadeem Sheikh guided A.O. Blues to a thrilling four-wicket victory over Omer Cricket Club in a A.O. Super Cup fixture at the Asghar Ali Shah Stadium on Sunday.

The winners, chasing 206 for victory in 20 overs, achieved the target with two balls to spare after requiring 14 runs off the last six deliveries.

Babar Javed stroked a flawless 77 studded with 11 boundaries and a six while Nadeem Sheikh's 66 included five fours and as many sixes.

Earlier, Omer CC's totalled revolved around a fine 84 by Nadeem Musa whose innings included eight fours and four sixes. He received excellent support from Mohammad Ali who hit 43 with one four and four sixes.

Babar Javed exhibited his bowling skills by claiming four wickets for 15 runs. Raza Husain snapped up four wickets for 23 runs.

In the other match of the day, paceman Atif captured four wickets in four balls but still ended up on the losing side as Northern Gymkhana defeated Pakistan Sports by 66 runs, says a press release.
