Lahore, Dec 11: Opener Qaisar Abbas hit a brilliant knock of 168 to steer Pakistan Reserves to 419 for eight in the first innings and put his side in domineering position against Sargodha in the Quaid-i-Azam Cricket Trophy match at the Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday.

Pakistan Reserves are now 259 runs ahead with two wickets still standing.

Shoaib Malik (58 with eight fours), and paceman Shabbir Ahmad, battling to rectify his bowling action, will resume the Pakistan Reserves first innings on Sunday morning.

Qaiser Abbas hit 25 elegant boundaries. He stayed at the crease for 409 minutes and faced 278 balls. He punished all the six Sargodha bowlers at will. He was finally caught by Haroon Rahim off Murtaza Ali. He was the seventh batsman out at the total of 392. Qaiser extended his fourth wicket partnership with captain Faisal Iqbal to 56 on Saturday morning. Both were together at the crease for 70 minutes and faced 100 deliveries.

Fifth wicket partnership between Qaisar Abbas and Asif Mahmood (58 with 10 fours) was the most productive of the day as both plundered 144 runs in 130 minutes off facing 230 balls.

Qaisar Abbas and Shoaib Malik added 70 runs for the seventh wicket partnership in 71 minutes from 110 deliveries.
