Jaffar, Imran share bowling honours 11 December 1999
Lahore, Dec 10: Fifteen wickets fell on the second day of the four-day Quaid-i-Azam Trophy fixture between Karachi City Cricket Association (KCCA) Blues and Redco at the LCCA ground here on Friday.
Redco, resuming this morning at 84 for two in reply to KCCA's 144, were spun out for 159 with left-arm spinner Jaffar Qureshi capturing six for 51. When the stumps were drawn for the day, KCCA were 167 for seven after surrendering a 15-run first innings lead to Redco. Afsar Nawaz (14) and Rizwan Saeed (5) will resume the KCCA Blues innings on Saturday. Some good battings were produced by top-scorer Saad Wasim (43, two fours), Mohammad Shakil (36, four fours) and Mohammad Furrukh (37, three fours) to lift the KCCA Blues second innings. For Redco, right-arm-leg spinner Imran Tahir did most of the damaged. He captured five wickets for 51 runs. Paceman Waqas Ahmad captured the remaining two wickets for 34. Earlier in the day, Redco's overnight pair of Shadab Kabir, who resumed at 30, and Husnain Qayyum, who began at 33, further extent their third wicket partnership to 58 in 59 minutes before Husnain Qayyum caught by Mohammad Shakil off Rizwan Saeed. He scored 46 studded with five fours and one six. Husnain Qayyum's dismissal triggered a sensation collapse as Redco lost their last seven wickets for the addition of only 63 runs. Test opener Shadab Kabir chipped in with a useful 40 while Adnan Naeem (29, four fours) was the other key scorer. © Dawn
