Life ban on ICA secretary lifted 8 December 1999
Islamabad, Dec 7: The life ban imposed on Islamabad Cricket Association (ICA) secretary Jawadul Hasan from taking part in the elections by the ex-ICA Ad hoc Committee has been lifted with immediate effect. The decision was conveyed by Pakistan Cricket Board adhoc committee Secretary Shafqat Rana to ICA secretary Zahid Mehmood. The ex-ICA ad hoc committee on Oct 27 had imposed a life ban on the former ICA secretary in reaction to a news story that condemned the actions of the then ad hoc committee and also held Mujeebur Rehman unconstitutionally holding ICA president's post. Jawadul Hasan, who has been associated with the ICA since its formation, had appealed to PCB terming the decision of the ad hoc committee "beyond its parameters of powers" besides being "arbitrary". The PCB inquiry committee was headed by former Test cricketer Intikhab Alam. His recommendations called for immediate lifting of the ban. The inquiry committee viewed the incident as work of individuals with vested interest and bickering within the ad hoc association, it was learnt. © Dawn
