All eyes on you, West Indies youth told The Barbados Nation - 17 August 1999 President of the Barbados Cricket Association Tony Marshall has admonished young West Indies cricketers to remember always that they are representing the region. Marshall was speaking at the conclusion of a one-week seminar for the 20 players preparing for the World Youth Cup in Sri Lanka early next year. You are from different countries but you are representing West Indies, Marshall said. Remember there are six million people back home who will be following your success ... if the West Indies team is to succeed you must be your brothers keeper. Director of Coaching of the West Indies Cricket Board Reg Scarlett announced at the start of the camp that two camps were likely be held in Antigua at dates to be set. Some 15 players and five reserves, who were selected after the just concluded Nortel Under-19 Tournament, benefited from a wide range of off-the-field sessions which were conducted by several lecturers. Among the topics covered were managing finances, fitness and nutrition, conflict resolution, injury prevention, general etiquette and stress management. The players were presented with certificates for successful completion of the seminar during a ceremony at the Caribee Hotel on Friday night. It was also attended by coaches, cricket administrators and former West Indies players Sir Conrad Hunte, David Holford and Wes Hall. Coach of the Young West Indies squad, former Test batsman Gus Logie, described the week as a successful one. Overall we had a very interesting week. It was informative and most of the players even did things they did not know they were capable of, he said. The seminar was co-ordinated by Keith Simmons, a vice-president of the BCA.
