One match suspension for Pathirana Sa'adi Thawfeeq - 26 August 1999 Sri Lanka umpire D. N. Pathirana was suspended from officiating in one match of the Aiwa Cup tri-nation series for breaching the International Cricket Council's (ICC) Code of Conduct, a press release from the Sri Lanka Cricket Board stated yesterday. Pathirana was found guilty of violating the ICC Code No. 8 which states: ``Players, umpires and team officials shall not make any public pronouncement or media comment which is detrimental either to the game in general, or to a particular tour in which they are involved, or about any tour between other countries which is taking place, or to relations between the Boards of the competing teams''. The umpires committee which met yesterday morning to inquire into the media comments made by Pathirana during the match between Sri Lanka and Australia at the Galle International Stadium on Sunday, found that he had breached the ICC Code No. 8. As such the committee recommended a one-match suspension to the Sri Lanka Cricket Board. The Board accepted this recommendation and suspended Pathirana from officiating in the Sri Lanka v India match to be played at the SSC grounds on August 29. Pathirana officiated in yesterday's Sri Lanka-India match played under lights at the R. Premadasa Stadium.
