Brijesh Jeganathan, a handy allrounder
The Daily News - 6 August 1999

Tamil Union off-spinner Brijesh Jeganathan is proving to be a handy all-rounder for Leatherhead CC in the Fullers county league in England.

More than his bowling, Brijesh, the son of former Sri Lanka leg-spinner Sridharan Jeganathan, has excelled with the bat, scoring an unbeaten 81 against Pyrford, 90 v Croydon Gas and 75 v Haslemere.

His best bowling performance has been 7 for 63 against Old Grammarians which match Leatherhead won. But apart from that rare spell of bowling, Brijesh's performance in other matches with the ball has been mediocre taking only a further three wickets in nine matches.

A club report on Brijesh's progress in the league states that ``he has found a little difficulty bowling on English wickets, but in the last few games he has found a better line an in consequence has achieved better results''.

It further states that Brijesh ``has performed well with the bat and looks a class player. He has bowled very well and has a good high action and loop and he is still coming to terms with English wickets''.

On days when he is not playing (Monday) Brijesh coaches an under 13 side.

Brijesh joined Tamil Union in 1997 and also played for Hatton Nationl Bank in the Mercantile 'C' division when they won the championship title.
