Lancashire: Matloob is in seventh heaven The Lancashire Evening Telegraph - 18 August 1999 Millennium's Matloob Khan returned figures of 7-26, including two wickets in two balls as his side closed the gap on A Division leaders Attock by winning the only match to survive the weather. After the delayed start, opponents Taverners A batted first and were dismissed for 87. He twice took two wickets in an over as Millennium took full advantage of the conditions. In reply, Millennium cruised to a seven-wicket victory to move them to within six points of Attock. Nadeem Ashraf celebrated National Left Handers Day a day late by totally eclipsing the league batting record and also becoming the first player in the history of the league to score 500 runs in a season. The result gives next Saturday's clash with Attock at King George's an extra significance. Only a few weeks ago Attock seemed unstoppable in their quest for a league and cup double, but after losing to Whalley Road in the league, and Taverners in the Harry Wood Cup Final, doubts are now beginning to appear. Taverners B must remain favourites for the B Division, but it is still theoretically possible for Peel Park, St Phillip's or Accrington A whom they play in the final match - to catch them. Results: Taverners A 87 (M Swift 39, C Fitzpatrick 12, M Khan 7-26, S Hussain 3-41), Millennium 88-3 (N Ashraf 22, Z Aslam 22, A Butterworth 1-6, P Fitzpatrick 1-21).
