The Dawn - 18 August 1999

Hyderabad, Aug 17: SDM City Sohail Rajput on Tuesday sealed the office of Hyderabad Division Cricket Association (under suspension) under the directives of ad hoc committee of Hyderabad Division Cricket Association.

The account of HDCA has officially been frozen also. The first ever meeting of ad hoc body of HDCA was held here on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad Rashid Bashir Mazari, who is the convener of the sub-committee.

It was attended by other members of the body including S. Abdul Aziz, Javed Nasir Channa and Bashir Shana. The meeting discussed the cricket association's affairs at length.

The meeting took serious notice of the activities of suspended HDCA and decided to freeze the bank account and seal the office. The SDM City Suhail Rajput was directed to seal the HDCA office at Niaz Stadium.

The members of sub-committee also discussed the procedure of formation of divisional under-19 team of Hyderabad Division for participation in national under-19 championship, scheduled to begin from the first week of September. Due to the short period, the meeting resolved to conduct three day open trials at Niaz Stadium from August 20, for selection of the team instead of organising inter district tournament.

A five member selection committee, headed by DC Hyderabad and comprising Bashir Shana, S. Abdul Aziz, Dr Iqbal Sheikh and Hafeezur Rehman would hold trials of the boys.

The meeting decided to conduct training-cum-coach-camp for selection of the players. The three days trials of U-19 players of Hyderabad, Badin, Thatta and Dadu district would be held from August 20 at Niaz Stadium for the divisional side. Interested players have been advised to get themselves registered with the selection committee at Niaz Stadium at 9 am on August 20. They have also been asked to bring original primary and matriculation certificates, mentioning their date of birth, B-form and two passport size photographs.

Following the recommendation of Javed Nisar Channa, a member of sub committee, the meeting decided to recommend the names of Asfandyar, Faisal Athar to PCB ad hoc committee for their inclusion in Pakistan camp in view of their outstanding performance in the last season and abroad.

The next meeting of the committee would be held at Niaz Stadium on August 19 at 6 pm.
