Four tons of fun The Barbados Nation - 30 August 1999 Four centuries and a ninety. The Barbados Cricket Association's Courts Suzuki Division One was illuminated yesterday by hundreds from Chris Humphrey and Ian Bradshaw of Cockspur Wanderers, Floyd Reifer of Cable and Wireless BET and Shirley Clarke of United Carlton. Leon Layne of Dewars White Label YMPC missed a ton by seven runs. The old cliche of batsmen making hay while the sun shone was especially apt in that it is done so rarely these days. Humphrey, 27, has been a revelation this season, scoring his third century in as many matches to take his tally of runs to 422. Afterward, he sought to play down suggestions from a radio interviewer that he would now be eyeing a national call-up. He had to share the stage yesterday with Bradshaw in a second-wicket stand of 198 against BCL. Humphrey made 113 and Bradshaw 110 not out as Wanderers made light of the BCL bowling. Clarke was the first to reach three figures. He started the day on 86 and went on to make 105 against Banks for his maiden Division One hundred. Reifer, like Bradshaw and Clarke former Barbados youth captains, was the only player to actually make 100 runs on the day. His 142 thrilled spectators if not CHIC Schools South bowlers.
