  • Andrew Symonds won Man of the Match award for the first time in his career. He became 63rd Australian to win a MoM award.
  • LV Jayasundra was making his ODI umpiring debut. He became 17th SriLankan to stand in a ODI.
  • Wicketkeeper MSK Prasad was making a comeback in Indian team after missing 46 matches since he last played for India (v Kenya, Bangalore, 20 May 1998). However this is not any sort of Indian record. The Indian record of missing most matches in between two appearances is held by Robin Singh who missed as many as 146 matches in between his two consecutive ODI appearances (from 18 Mar 1989, St.John's to 03 Nov 1996, Mohali). Incidentally Pakistan's Sajid Ali holds the world record of missing most matches in between two consecutive ODI appearances. Sajid missed 154 matches from 25 Oct 1991 to 07 Apr 1997 at Sharjah.
