2000 ICC Knock-Out
August 16, 1999
Following the success of the Wills International Cup in Dhaka last October, ICC has decided that this one-day knock-out event will be held every 2 years.
The period October 5 - 15, 2000 has been set as the dates for the second KO.
Three venues are under consideration - Nairobi, Sharjah and Dhaka.
A full inspection of the cricket resources in Nairobi was conducted last week by Chief Executive David Richards and Event Manager Campbell Jamieson. There are a number of turf grounds suitable for practice, with the main ground - the Gymkhana Club - already having hosted One Day Internationals. It will be the venue for the quadrangular series involving Kenya, South Africa, India and Zimbabwe commencing on 24th September. Plans are in hand for further upgrading of facilities at this ground should Nairobi be selected as the host venue for the 2000 ICC Knock-Out.
The decision on choice of venue will be taken by early September. © ICC
