Sri Lanka Schools: Ananda-Thomian clash should be a thriller Chris Dhambarage - 29 April 1999 It all points to a thriller when last year's finalists Ananda and S. Thomas' Mount Lavinia clash in the first semi-final of the Elephant Lemonade Trophy schools limited over cricket tournament at NCC grounds today. In the second semi-final which will be played at the adjoining CCC grounds tomorrow, Lumbini will meet Prince of Wales. In the semi-finals played yesterday, Ananda beat a strong Peterite outfit by eight wickets while S. Thomas' had the better of Kalutara MV by 34 runs. In the bottom half, Lumbini beat St. Sylvester's by 65 runs while Prince of Wales defeated arch rivals St. Sebastian's by 12 runs. The final will be played on May 2 (Sunday) at SSC grounds. Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association yesterday named the most outstanding award winners in the recently concluded inter-school league season for the Elephant Lemonade trophy. Sri Lanka Under-19 players Ranil Dhammika of Lumbini and Ian Daniels are among the nine cricketers who have won awards in the three league tournaments. Dhammika accounts for the best bowler's prize in 'A' division for his 60 wickets this season. Daniels, who aggregated 861 runs this season, has been picked the best batsman. The best all-rounder's award goes to Anandian Muthumudalige Pushpakumara, who completed a fine double of 63 wickets and 659 runs. The award winners in the 'B' division are S. Ranaweera of Vidyartha (Best Bowler), D. Mendis of Ananda Sastralaya, Kotte (Best Batsman) and A. Marapona of Dharmaraja (Best All-rounder). In the 'C' division league, the most oustanding cricketers were W. H. Mahesh of Sri Devananda (Best Bowler), D.Weerasinghe of Bandaranayake MMV, Gampaha (Best Batsman) and Thilan Indika of Kegalle MV (Best All-rounder).
