Highest Totals without any century

In last super league encounter of group ``C'', Madhya Pradesh piled up 605 runs in its first innings against Haryana at Rajnandgoan whithout any batsman reaching in tripple figure. It was the highest total made by a team in the Ranji Trophy without any century of the batsmen. The previous highest total without any century was 575 runs made by Holkar against Bengal at Indore in the 1953-54 season.

Maximum run getters in a Ranji Season

Karnataka's Vijay Raghvendrarao Bhardwaj became the highest run getter in a Ranji season this year. He scored 1280 runs in 15 innings of 10 matches with the help of four centjuries and seven half centuries at an average of 106.66 remaining thrice not out. Till last year, the record of scoring maximum runs was in the name of late Raman Lamba of Delhi who scored 1034 runs in 14 innings of 10 matches including three centuries and four half centuries at an average of 73.86 in 1996-97 season.

This year Jacob Martin of Baroda also scored more than one thousand (1037) runs in the national championship. In the 65 year old history of Ranji Trophy, only six batsmen could crossed four figures in a season.

Maximum Run-Gatters in Run Career

Haryana's Amarjit Kaypee became the highest run gatter in Ranji Trophy when he reached on 132(148) against Madhya Pradesh at Rajnandgoan on March 16,last in the last super league match of Group''C''. Playing his 154th innings of 104th Ranji match, Kaypee scored 7291 runs with the help of 26 centuries and 32 half centuries at an average of 54.41 remaining 20 times not out erasing the record of Ashok Malhotra's 7274 runs who played first for Haryana and later on for Bengal.

Born on October 2,1960 at Jalandhar. Amarjit Kaypee stated his Ranji Career in 1980-81 for Punjab and later shifted to Haryana in 1986-87. He is the only batsman of the country who is having the distinction of scoring +150 runs in the each innings of a Ranji match (152 & 173 vs Uttar Pradesh at Faridabad in 1990-91 season).

Most Extras in an innings in Ranji Trophy Match

In the Group ``B'' super league match of Ranji Trophy played at M.A.Chidamabaram Stadium, Chennai from February 23 to 26 this year, Tamil Nadu conceded 89 runs as extras to Railways including 43 byes, 23 leg-byes and 23 no-balls which was the ever highest extras in the national championship erasing the previous record of 62 runs conceded by Jammu-KAshmir to Delhi in the 1991-92 season.
