The intimate nature of the smaller Caribbean grounds and the fact crowds are much closer to the players than at many other venues around the world means that security in the West Indies needs to be among the best of all cricket nations.

That's the view of West Indies team manager Clive Lloyd.

The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) is yet to make an official comment about Sunday's crowd trouble which started when Barbadian Sherwin Campbell was run out after colliding with Australian bowler Brendon Julian in mid-pitch.

However, Lloyd lamented the pitch invasion in his homeland last Wednesday and the bottle-throwing at Kensington.

On the matter of the tied One-Day in Guyana - though the Aussies finished a run short of the West Indies' total - he said he felt his team was ``unduly punished'' because of the pitch invasion when the visitors tried to get three runs to tie the game.

``For you to run three runs in Guyana you had to be Carl Lewis and Linford Christie all wrapped into one and with steroids. And if you bring in the boundary ten yards it's even harder.

``In fact, no three-run hit was scored at Bourda all day.''
