Lancashire supports proposal The Lancashire Evening Telegraph - 22 April 1999 Lancashire are expected to support proposals to increase the amount of one-day cricket played next season with the introduction of a 25 overs competition. A number of counties, led by Essex, are unhappy at the loss of the Benson & Hedges Cup from the early part of the season, and there are proposals to bring it back in place of the Super Cup next year. Meanwhile, the championship match against Middlesex at Lord's was set to get underway at last today with dry conditions in London and a decent forecast. However, the changes in the points scoring system meant that the captains were unlikely to forfeit innings to set up a run chase, leaving both teams to play for bonus points on the remaining two days.
