Lord's of all she surveys
The Lancashire Evening Telegraph - 21 April 1999

Janet Entwhistle made history on an otherwise miserable day for Lancashire at Lord's yesterday.

Entwhistle, who became Lancashire's first-ever female committee member when she was elected during the winter, took advantage of the MCC's decision to allow women into the Lord's pavilion.

``I've been coming here since 1975 and that's the first time I've been allowed into the pavilion,'' she said.

``I've enjoyed looking around the Long Room at last.

But it's not the same when there is no cricket to watch.''

The first day of the Championship match against Middlesex was abandoned as early as 3pm because of persistent drizzle, the fourth washout out of six scheduled days Lancashire have suffered this season.

Entwistle's response was unusual for a committee person.

``I'm off to Oxford Street to go shopping,'' she said.
