Jamaica Schools: Holmwood hunt berth in final The Jamaica Gleaner - 7 April 1999 Defending champions Holmwood Technical aim for a berth in the April 13-15 rural schoolboy Headley Cup final when they oppose arch-rivals York Castle High at St. Elizabeth Technical in one of two rescheduled semi-final games today. The other semi-final brings together many-time champions St. Elizabeth Technical and Vere Technical at Manchester High. Both matches are scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m. The highly-touted Robert Lewis coached Holmwood Technical will be hunting back-to-back titles with Jamaica Under-19 legspinner and captain Kevin Peart along with allrounders Evon McInnis and Andre Dwyer, batsmen Dwayne Ewart, Lanslot Warren, Kevin Wynter and Junior Lawrence leading their charge. Only last week, in their rained out semi-final with York Castle, Peart captured 5-52 to help restrict York Castle to 241 runs, while Ewart and Warren were unbeaten on 43 and 33 respectively as Holmwood cruised to 103 for the loss of one wicket. The Cleon Smith-coached York Castle, however, will look to rebound with key players in captain and former national Under-15 allrounder Rashard Marshall and Derwin Hillock. Marshall and Hillock who both turn out for St. Ann Parish in the Rothman's Middlesex Senior Cup, scored half centuries (53 and 73) against the defending champions last week. St. Elizabeth Technical will look to key players in captain Mel Wint, allrounder Brenton Parchment and pacer Kamal Dennis to carve out a victory over the Ordelmo Peters-coached Vere Technical team. Vere will look to their key players in National Under-15 allrounder Omar Campbell and Shane Powell who play for Boys' Town in the Rothman's Surrey Senior Cup.
