NCC batting first totalled 58 for 1 with Russell Arnold 23 and Ruwan Kalpage 30. Arnold had an encouraging time with the ball capturing 21 wickets in the tournament. Bloomfield could only muster 45 for 8 in their innings.
Umpires for the final were Peter Manuel and D. M. Pathirana.
In the first semi-final Bloomfield represented by Bateesa Silva and Roshan Weerasinghe beat the experienced combination of Chaminda Vaas and Eric Upashantha. Upashantha was very careless in his batting, playing some reckless shots.
In the second semi-final NCC represented by Russell Arnold and Ruwan Kalpage comprehensively beat Tamil Union represented by Niroshan Bandaratilleke and Sanjeeva Weerakoon.
Arnold and Kalpage bowled tidily, batting first NCC totalled 57 for 1 wicket with Russel Arnold 31 and Ruwan Kalpage 24.
In reply Tamil Union scored 50 for 9.
The schoolboy fielders did not live up to expectations in the semi-final.
The main sponsors for the event is East-West Marketing Private Ltd with support from the Traveller, National Savings Bank, Coca-Cola, Pepsi Cola, Ceylon Cold Stores and Ceylon Breweries. The tournament is conducted by the Colombo Colts Club to commemorate their 125th anniversary being established in 1873.
The tournament was conducted smoothly by the committee chaired by Trevor Rajaratnam and comprising Carlton Bernadus, K. Mathiranan, Nishanta Ranatunga, Susilough de S. Wijeratne and Upali Warnapura while the co-ordinator was Mike Raj.
The chief guest was Mr. Jeevan Kumaratunga Deputy Minister of Sports.

Best fielder: Malinda Perera - Rs. 2,000.
Man of the tournament: Russell Arnold - Rs. 5,000 plus trophy.
Most number of sixes: Ashan Ranaweera (Moon) - Rs. 2,000.
1st prize: Rs. 25,000 plus trophy.
Runners-up: Rs. 15,000 plus trophy.
