CRICKET: In last year's Red Stripe Cup, Barbados crowned themselves champions ahead of Jamaica.

This year with a name change to the President's Cup, Barbados start the defence of their regional crown against Jamica today and captain Philo Wallace is hoping that the champions can overcome the short comings of a team with a good blend of youth and experience - the same as Jamaica - and start the competition on a positive note.

``Our chances are very good. We have a team with youth and experience. A team with guys who are eager and want to perform at the first class level,'' Wallace said on arrival in the island yesterday.

``We know that Jamaica have a very good team as well. We are not taking anything away from Jamaica and we won't take anything for granted because we know how they play cricket at home and it is difficult to beat them at home and we are prepared to have a very decent game,'' Wallace said.

He believes that Jamaica, without a number their regular players who are in South Africa with the West Indies A team, will still be a formidable opponent
