The chief executive of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Majid Khan, said from Lahore that Wasim Akram had informed him that he was injured. ``Since he is injured, he was not considered for selection,'' he said. The three-member selection committee met in Lahore to select a 15-man team for the tour that includes five Tests and at least nine one-day internationals.
The fate of Waqar Younis, whose selection also hangs in the balance, was also not known.
Majid stated that Akram had not informed him in how many days he would regain his fitness but emphasised that once he was injured, he was not considered.
When Wasim Akram was contacted late Tuesday evening, he said he had informed the board that he had a little muscular pain. ``But I had also assured them that I would be fit in a weeks time,'' he stressed.
