Speaking yesterday, Garner said the players gelled well together and formed a force that was too strong for their Indian opponents. He said he would rate the trip eight out of 10.

``The guys played well together and really did the region proud,'' added Garner, who returned home on Wednesday night.

The West Indies took the spoils, winning the two-Test series 2-0 and the One-Day series 2-1.

Garner, a West Indies selector, spoke highly of teenaged Jamaican all-rounder Chris Gayle, whom he described as ``a confident young man who has something to offer''.

Gayle was a late replacement for Barbadian Floyd Reifer who was called up to join the senior team in South Africa when Jimmy Adams was injured.

He said batsmen Adrian Griffith, Wavell Hinds and Richard Smith played well and the bowlers did a a ``great job''.

``They (the bowlers) pulled their weight when called upon,'' said Garner.

``Captain Ian Bishop was the most experienced and played his part. (Pedro) Collins was consistent and is constantly improving, and (Carl) Tuckett chipped in well.''

Garner said Guyanese speedster Reon King was injured on the trip and this reduced his opportunities.

He praised the wicket-keepers - Barbadian Courtney Browne, who ``was totally outstanding'', and teenaged Grenadian Wayne Phillip, who ``was impressive in his games''.

Of Barbadian opener Sherwin Campbell, who was dropped from the senior side and sent on the ``A'' trip to recover his form, Garner reported: ``He had some bad decisions early on and fought hard to find his touch.

``He looked comfortable in the end and came good in the final One-Dayer.''

Garner added that once the players continued in the vein they showed in India they should come into the reckoning for the senior team in the future.

``They still need to work on the mental toughness for Test cricket, but the coach (Roger Harper) and myself stressed that they should take back what they learned into the Busta Cup and work on it.''
