Sri Lanka: Unfair Postponement

By granting a postponement to CCC in their Premier match against Galle CC at Maitland Crescent, the tournament committee has brought the wrath of several other competing clubs on them. With the competition for the semi-final places getting intense this final weekend, they feel that granting a postponement has given CCC an unfair advantage over them.

Many clubs suffered badly due to adverse weather conditions and lost valuable points. CCC who are currently placed fifth in Group 'A' standings, have a good chance of qualifying for the semi-finals if they win their last three matches. They played their postponed game against Galle CC yesterday, and have matches against wooden spoonists Police SC and Sebastianites today and tomorrow. All matches are on their home grounds.

SSC lead Group 'A' with eight points followed by Panadura SC with seven, Tamil Union (6) and Bloomfield (5).

Colts top Group 'B' with eight points followed by NCC (7), Matara SC (6) and Moors SC (5). The top two teams from each group will qualify to play in the semi-finals under lights on December 22 and 23. The final is scheduled for Boxing Day also under lights.
