Cunis finished with six for 28 as Lancaster Park-Woolston was bundled out for a paltry 79, more than 100 runs short of victory in the WestpacTrust Cup Canterbury premier competition yesterday.
Fellow quick Chris Martin paved the way for Cunis, by producing a fiery spell of bowling to take two wickets for 11 runs off five overs. Only two Lancaster Park-Woolston batsmen reached 10, and it had to rely on 24 extras as the major contributor to its meagre tally.
Lancaster Park-Woolston also bowled badly, conceding 57 extras, including a mammoth 32 wides. Clayton Cornelius was the best bowler, with four wickets for 30.
Gareth Brooks top scored for St Albans with 46. He shared in a telling 60-run stand for the seventh wicket with Jonathon Davidson (23).
Persistent drizzle failed to rain on High School Old Boys' runs parade at Hagley Park. Led by a stylish 75 by Jeremy Innes and a 50 from James Barrett, HSOB amassed an impressive 212 for eight wickets off its 50 overs.
In reply, Riccarton was 136 for three wickets, after 55 from Robbie Frew. But rain stopped play after 34 overs and the umpire Nook Ebert awarded the game to HSOB because of its superior runs for ratio.
Marist cantered to a comfortable four-wicket win over Sydenham at Middleton Park, losing six wickets in reaching its target of 102.
Dayle Shackel made 40 and Chris O'Connell 31.
Bowler Chris Bird was Marist's match-winner, taking four wickets for 24 and pulling off two neat catches as Sydenham crashed out for 100.
Openers Tom Music (42) and Michael Papps (47 not out) put East-Christchurch Shirley on a fast-track to victory over Burnside West-University at Burwood Park.
East-Shirley won by five wickets, recording 131 for five in reply to Burnside-West's 130.
Dave Neil was East's bowling star, with three wickets for 22 runs.
He had the outstanding figures of three wickets for 0 after two overs, and his third over was also a maiden. His final bowling figures were embellished by conceding 10 runs off his eighth and final over.
