ADELAIDE, Dec 10 (AFP) - Sir Donald Bradman was disappointed at the bookmaker scandal enveloping Australian cricket, captain Mark Taylor said Thursday.
Taylor met with the sport's greatest batsmen here Wednesday as Mark Waugh and Shane Warne apologised for taking money from an Indian bookmaker for providing information during Australia's tour of Sri Lanka in 1994.
"I think he's a little disappointed," Taylor said of Sir Donald's reaction to the bookmaker controversy.
"But typical Don Bradman, he didn't make any rash statements.
"Sir Donald is still very much a great student of the game.
"He's still very close to the ground in relation to cricket, he knows exactly what's going on in and around the Australian cricket team."
Taylor said Sir Donald thanked him for not passing his Australian Test record score of 334, which the current captain equalled in Pakistan last month.
"We talked about making 334, he thanked me for not going past his score," Taylor said.
"He wrote me a very nice letter about two weeks ago saying the same thing, thanking me for not going past his score.
"I'm absolutely delighted that I got a letter from Sir Donald Bradman, looking back it has made the 300 even more special than it was.
"It was fantastic to talk to him because I think I have learnt as much off him as I have learnt from anyone."
