Get ready to pop the champagne.

Rain, sun or earthquake, Police seem certain to be celebrating a deserved capture of domestic sport's most prestigious and most lucrative prize this evening.

The Courts/Suzuki Division 1 cricket championship enters its 39th and final day with the lawmen on the threshold of driving away with the $45 000 Suzuki Baleno on offer.

Second-placed Cable & Wireless BET, the only other title-challengers at the start of the series, will tell you that they were hard done by the weather last weekend and even their most optimistic supporter will admit they have to do much today if they are to defeat Big B Spartan.

Once that match ends in a predictable draw at Queen's Park, celebrations just over the wall at Weymouth will begin to signal Police's first Division 1 title in more than a decade.

Summarised scores:

At Weymouth ``A'': Police 125-8 decl'd. United Carlton 67-6.

At Queen's Park: Big B Spartan 153. Cable & Wireless BET 40-3.

At Alleyne: CHIC Schools North 111. ICB Empire 232-7.

At Beckles Road: Banks 157-8 decl'd and 44-4. Sports & Games YMPC 76.

At Dayrells Road: Cockspur Wanderers 156-8 decl'd. BNB St. Catherine 158-5.

At Trents: BCL 41 and 89. Mount Gay Maple 95-6 decl'd and 39-5. Maple won by five wickets in two days.

At Kensington Oval: CHIC Schools South 66 and 46. ESA Field Pickwick 119-8 decl'd. Pickwick won by an innings and seven runs.
