Mr. Watson said the Board had previously considered introducing a change to the system whereby a team that led on the first innings and then completed an outright victory would gain eight points, instead of six.
This change was opposed by last week's Cricket Committee meeting, which was attended by a number of ACB Directors and a player representative from each of the six states.
On the recommendation of the Cricket Committee and the agreement of the state associations, Mr. Watson said the points system would now be unchanged for the start of the Sheffield Shield competition.
