from first-class cricket.
- Australia lose another day's play on tour as the opening day against Nottinghamshire is washed out.
Andy Bichel is sent home due to injury.
- The final of the Costcutter Cup
between Durham and Gloucestershire at Harrogate is washed out.
Durham win the title on the toss of a coin after the umpires decide that
playing conditions are too unsafe for a single-wicket shoot-out.
- The Bangladesh Cricket Board retain
Akram Khan and Aminul Islam Bulbul
as captain and vice-captain respectively for the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka next
month. The rest of the squad will be named at a later date.

win over Durham. Middlesex and Yorkshire the other Round Five winners.
- Chris Adams decides to appeal to the ECB over the £750 fines imposed by
his club Derbyshire for dissent during the game against the Australians.

Test squad - Malcolm recalled, Knight dropped, Butcher and Hollioake in.
- Manoj Prabhakar claims in an Indian magazine that he was offered a bribe
by an unnamed Indian team-mate during the Singer Cup in 1994.
- Centuries to Hayden, Hick and Gallian in
Round Six of the Sunday League. Lancashire retain their perfect record
to lead the table.
