Yardley Hectic 1997 With Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka's new cricket coach Bruce Yardley will have a hectic time with the national cricketers who have a tight international calender for 1997. His first assignment with the Sri Lanka team will be a five-week tour of New Zealand which include two Tests and three one day internationals.

After the New Zealand tour, Sri Lanka's next international engagement is in Sharjah from April 3 to 11 in a Triangular Series with Pakistan and Zimbabwe. Then the Lankans tour Pakistan for a two Test series from April 13 to 27, followed by a quadrangular tournament in India from May 7 to 22.

Sri Lanka will then undertake a tour of the West Indies from May 23 to June 23 for two Tests and a one-day international, followed by the Asia Cup tournament in Colombo from July 15 to 31. India then tours Sri Lanka from August 3 to September 5 for two Tests and three one-day internationals, followed by a Triangular series in Pakistan between October 30 and November 10. Sri Lanka will also tour India for three Tests and three one-day internationals between November 14 and December 26.
