Sri Lanka Invited To Play In Sharjah

The Cricketers' Benefit Fund Series (CBFS), the organisers of one day international tournaments in Sharjah, have invited the World champions Sri lanka to play in the 1997 Champions trophy tournament to be played in UAE in April this year.

The other two countries which will play in this triangular tournament are Pakistan and Zimbabwe. The three teams will play each other twice each and the top two teams will qualify for the final to be played on April 11. The preliminary league round matches will be played from April 3 to 9.

The 1997 Champions trophy tournament will be Zimbabwe's debut in a one day competition in Sharjah, the World's most famous neutral cricket venue. Sri Lanka team will fly to Sharjah after they end their five-week tour of New Zealand, for two Tests and three one day internationals, on March 27.
