Aravinda de Silva To Join Sri Lanka Team in February

Sri Lanka vice captain Aravinda de Silva has confirmed that he will return to Colombo by early February to join the Sri Lanka team which will make a five-week tour of New Zealand from February 26 next year.

According to informed sources in Auckland, where De Silva is currently playing for the State team in New Zealand's premier league tournament, the dashing middle order batsman is hoping to return to Colombo before two weeks to the Kiwi tour. De Silva has scored 44 runs for Auckland in his first match in the Shell Cup competiton.

The Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka (BCCSL) took an unanimous decision at its recent Ex-Co meeting that a national cricketer playing in a major competition in any country should return home two weeks before the national team undertakes a tour, and a cricketer playing in a minor competition in any country, four to five weeks prior to departure.
