Gwen to call for neutral umpires
The International Women's Cricket Conference 1997 will be held in Calcutta attended by over twenty five countries who are members and will co-inside with the finals of the World Cup on December 29.
Mrs. Gwen Herat, President Women's Cricket Association of Sri Lanka who will attend the 2-day conference will call for
1) Neutral umpires for the women's World Cup
2) An International Monetary Fund to help those countries who genuinely wish to participate but cannot as noticed in the present World Cup series like Japan and Canada pulling out because of Financial constrains.
3) For an ASIA CUP Tournament to be played once in two years since the World Cup is played only once in four years.
(Mrs. Herat leaves tomorrow and will also attend the finals of the World Cup.)

Q - finalists of Div. 1 finalised
The quarter-finalists of the division I limited-over cricket tournament were finalised after the completion of the final qualifying round match between Antonians and Negombo CC last weekend.
Antonians by virtue of beating Negombo CC entered the last eight and will play Bloomfield at the Sara Stadium on Saturday.
The other quarter-final matches on this day are : Tamil Union v Panadura SC at Braybrooke Place, NCC v Galle CC at Maitland Crescent, and SSC v Colts at Havelock Park.
The winners of the Bloomfield-Antonians and NCC-Galle CC game will play in one semi-final match at the SSC grounds on Sunday.
The other semi-final match at NCC grounds will be between the winners of the Tamil Union-Panadura and SSC-Colts game, also on Sunday.
The final is tentatively fixed for January 14 at the SSC grounds. -[S.T.]
