Following Jayasuriya in the second place is his vice captain Aravinda de Silva with 62 points. Indian Saurav Ganguly who was adjudged the man of the series in their home Tests against Sri Lanka, has climbed up to third place with 58 points. In the fourth spot of the CEAT International cricketer of the year ratings is Pakistan off spinner Saqlin Mushtaq (55 points) who too had a productive season in the three-Test home series against the West Indies where Pakistan had a 3-0 whitewash with Mushtaq bagging nine wickets in the final Test in Karachi.
Former Indian captain Mohammed Azharuddin is placed fifth (48 points), followed by Glen McGrath (46 - Australia), Muttiah Muralitharan (46 - Sri Lanka), Sachin tendulkar (45 - India), Shane Warne (43 - Australia) and Ijaz Ahmed (38 - Pakistan). Tendulkar has gone down to the eighth place from his original No.3 spot after a dismal show with the bat before regaining his form with a fluent century in the last Test against Sri Lanka. (D.W.)
