Splendid recovery by Ananda Sastralaya

Ananda Sastralaya who were reeling at 35 for 4 made a splendid recovery to score 192 in the seventh annual Battle of Sri Jayawardenapura against St. John's College, Nugegoda which ended in a draw at the R. Premadasa Stadium yesterday.

Manjuka Namal of Ananda Sastralaya took a hat-trick and ended up with 4 for 32 while Pradeep Silva (34), Pradeep Kumara (37), Geeth Kumarappeli (30) and Nuwan Kelum Samarasinghe (28) made useful contributions.

The Johnians were 96 for 6 at close of play. Thushara Manjula (46 n.o.) and Anuradha Peiris (20) batted well for the Johnians.

St. John's 182 for 9 decl and 94 for 6 at close. (Sanjaya Roshan 20, Thushara Manjula 46 n.o., Anuradha Peiris 20, Nanjuka Namal 4 for 32).

Ananda Sastralaya (35 for 4 overnight) 192 all out (Pradeep Silva 34, Pradeep Kumara 37, Geeth Kumarappeli 30, Nuwan Kumara Samarasinghe 28, Manula Namal 14, Deshan Gamage 5 for 63).
