BCCI secretary Jagmohan Dalmiya indicated, at the end of the working committee meeting in Vishakapattinam on Friday, that the ACA had assured the BCCI that the venue would be brought up to scratch well before the fixture. A technical committee from the BCCI will inspect the facilities on or before the last day of September, and report to the board about the centre's readiness to host the match.
Dalmiya said that Assam chief minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta has taken a personal interest in the event, and assured the board that his government would extend full cooperation.
The ACA cricket association had, earlier, filed a case against the BCCI for denying it the right to host one of the games during the Wills World Cup. At that time, the board had refused to grant Guwahati a game because it was felt the facilities were below par for the hosting of an international fixture.
That case, Dalmiya indicated, has now been withdrawn.
