Forthcoming Annual Elections For BCCSL
18 December 1996
The annual elections of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board is due to
take place within the first quarter of next year. It will be interesting to see who will become the country's new cricket chief
at the 49th annual general meeting of the BCCSL which is expected
to take place in March.
In a stunning reversal of voting, Upali Dharmadasa edged out
former president Ana Punchihewa by a wafer thin margin of five
votes to become the BCCSL chief.
Dharmadasa received 63 votes to Punchihewa's 58 in one of the
most closely contested elections for the Cricket Board's
presidency at the last AGM held in March, 1996.
