Eleven teams from the Asia region converged on Chiang Mai, Thailand to contest the inaugural ACC Under-19 Women's Championship from 13th to 23rd December 2008. Hong Kong was grouped with UAE, Oman, Qatar and hosts Thailand, while pre-tournament favourites, Nepal, were grouped with Malaysia, Singapore, Kuwait, Bhutan and China.
Matches were played over 25 overs per side.
