MALAYSIA WON BY 3 WICKETS TO RETAIN THE TITLE
Kuala Lumpur (10th July 2005): Malaysia retained the Tuanku Ja'afar Under 13 Cup by defeating Singapore by 3 wickets in the final played at the Kinrara Cricket Academy Oval, Puchong.
Winning the toss Singapore skipper Timothy elected to bat. Singapore was in deep trouble losing 3 early wickets for just 9 runs. Ambar Chaudhary scooped a catch to Keithen and Stephen Leong Jet was trapped LBW off Derek Michael Duraisingam, while Ahmad Husni removed the other opener Mohit Kulkarni, was clean bowled. Timothy Singham (19, 53 balls) and Prasheen Param (31, 80 balls, 3x4's) put up 52 runs partnership for the 4th wicket. They were slowly building up the innings for Singapore unfortunately Timothy was run out trying for a sharp single. Later Rezza Ghanznavi scored a fighting 24 runs (51 balls, 1x4, 1x6) but eventually Sigapore were all out for 105 runs in 39.1 overs. Derek Michael Duraisingam bowled excellently scalped 2/10. Ahmad Zaid Adnan (3/22) and Nairul Izudin Ab.Halim (2/20) took care of the lower order batsmen.
Malaysia lost their inform batsman and skipper Keithen G in the very first ball of the innings off Varun Sivaram. Malaysia was struggling at 22 runs losing 4 wickets in the 9th over. Muhammad Hazim (10) and Nazirul Izudin (31 not out) took the total to 43. Leg spinner Rezza Gaznavi was introduced and immediately he took two wickets in consecutive balls to put Malaysia in a pathetic situation loosing 6 wickets for just 43 runs. Ameet Singh (27) showed good temperament to stay at the wicket and played smart cricketing shots to raise the total to 95. Ameet Singh and Nazirul Izudin together put up 52 runs for the 7th wicket before Ameet Singh was run out. Anyway Ahmad Zaid Adnan (10 not out) finished the match in style despatching a boundary off Rezza Gaznavi. Nazirul Izudin of Malaysia was declared Man of the Final.

Malaysian Cricket Association Honorary Secretary Mr Sivanandan Chinnadurai, Vice President Mr Mahinda Vallipuram, EXCO Members Lt Col Gerard were presented during the prize giving ceremony. Mr Mahinda Vallipuram and Lt Col Gerard gave away the awards and trophies to the participants.

Hong Kong vs Thailand, played at Royal Military College, KL on 10th July 2005 - Plate Finals
HONG KONG WON BY 65 RUNS
Kuala Lumpur (10th July 2005): Hong Kong registered their first victory in the tournament against Thailand in the plate finals by 65 runs. The match was played at Royal Military College grounds, Kuala Lumpur.
Thailand won the toss and elect to field first in a 30 overs affair. Hong Kong posted a modest 108 for 7 in 30 overs. Hong Kong were reeling at 26 for 5, but skipper Mark Chapman (27) and Sunny Bhimsaria (26) put up 65 runs for the 6th wicket took the total to 91. Skipper Vihar Shah was deadly with the ball finished his bowling figures of 6 overs 13 runs for 3 wickets. Jai Bhagwat (2/12) and Kshijit Jhaveri (2/24) were the other successful bowlers.
Thailand tumbled against the Hong Kong bowling attack and was skittle out for a paltry 43 runs in 20.2 overs. Left arm opening bowler Niaz Ali took 3 wickets for 8 runs, Mark Chapman and Kinchit Shah took 2 wickets each without giving any runs. Mark Chapman (Hong Kong) was declared Man of the match.
