The West Indies have had some great starts in one-dayers in
recent times, and much of it can be attributed to this man. Chris
Gayle, half of the Gayle-Hinds combo, has an ability to hit
cleanly through the line of the ball, eye and timing in perfect
synchronisation, and that talent was on abundant display at
Rajkot. Striking 72 off 68 balls with 12 fours and two sixes,
Gayle ensured a solid beginning to the tourists' innings.
