With England quick Matthew Hoggard moving the ball and exploiting bowler-friendly conditions, the Zimbabwean reply was soon in tatters. Ali Campbell was bowled by a delivery that came back in to castle him while Grant Flower was tempted into nibbling at a curving outswinger. Dion Ebrahim hung on for a slightly longer while, but he too fell to Hoggard after making 20. By the time Hoggard finished his 10 overs, he had put England firmly on top with a fine exhibition of swing bowling.
