(Bulawayo 5th ODI - 1 Jul 2001)
The momentum, which was swinging back and forth like a yo-yo, tilted in
Zimbabwe's favour when Carl Hooper smacked a Grant Flower full toss down
the throat of long off. There were 19 still needed in 17 balls and Ridley
Jacobs responded to the gravitas of the situation in his typically
unflappable mien. Jacobs was always in control, calmly slotting the ball in
the gaps, and flicking Streak through midwicket for the winning boundary
off the game's penultimate ball. It was the closest finish of a hitherto
lopsided sequence of contests and the West Indies team broke into
spontaneous cheers on the balcony as they clinched their appointed place in
the final of the competition against India.
