The triangular ODI series for the Coca-Cola Cup got underway at Harare on 24th June 2001. Zimbabwe won the toss and asked West Indies to have a bat first. Grant Flower was named the skipper after Heath Streak stepped down from the captaincy. Darren Ganga (66) and Chris Gayle (53) added 113 runs for the first wicket in just 24.4 overs. The running between the wickets was good and the runs just kept coming.
