Javagal Srinath is India's spearhead in the bowling
department. This 32 year old speedster from Karnataka made his
debut against the Aussies at the Gabba, Brisbane in the year
1991. He has served Indian cricket with distinction in the
last decade. He is an integral part of India's bowling machine
which also had his Karnataka colleagues Venkatesh Prasad and
Anil Kumble. With Kumble cooling his heels after an injury and
Prasad having fallen out of favour with the selectors, Srinath
will have to deliver the goods for India in Zimbabwe to fulfil
the dreams of millions of cricket fans in India - a Test
series win abroad. Srinath has so far played in 50 Test
matches picking up 185 wickets at 29.94 runs apiece. He has
picked up five wickets in an innings seven times with the best
figures of 8/86. He has a Test match strike rate of 62.60 when
compared to that of Zimbabwe's Heath Streak who has a better
figure of 57.40
