(2nd Test: Kandy - 22-26 Aug 2001)
Hemang Badani (16) scratched around for 52 balls before playing a pull shot and giving an easy catch to Fernando off the bowling of Ruchira Perera. Sameer Dighe (28) was trapped plumb in front of the wicket by Vaas after a fruitful 64 runs partnership with Harbhajan Singh for the seventh wicket. Zaheer Khan saw his woodwork rattled by Vaas, before he could open his account. Harbhajan Singh played a little cameo, unorthodox from the word go, smashing the ball to all parts of the field. His whirlwind knock of 44 came off just 32 balls and included nine boundaries. India were propelled onto 232 all out in 64.1 overs thanks to the pyrotechincs of Harbhajan Singh. Chaminda Vaas was easily the pick of the bowlers, claiming 4/65.
