Chasing a target of 177, the hosts slumped to 21/4 before Arjuna Ranatunga (88) and Russell Arnold (40) added 109. But Nicky Boje (3/24) removed both men as Sri Lanka's late order fell away and the innings terminated at 169. Earlier in the day, Boje and Paul Adams added a crucial 39 runs for South Africa, boosting their score to 231, which just about tilted the balance in the end.
