The
Hong Kong cricket team toured Canada to compete in the 2001 ICC Trophy.
The sixth seeds, Hong Kong was placed in the first division alongside
Denmark, Ireland, USA, Bermuda and Papua New Guinea. They wanted to qualify
for the Super League and then finish in the top three in order to book
a place at the 2003 World Cup, to be played in Cape Town, South Africa.

- The Hong Kong team
will play two pre-tournament matches in the city of Vancouver enroute
to the ICC Trophy in Toronto. The Vancouver section of the tour, to be
hosted by the Meraloma
Cricket Club from 24-17 June 2001, will include matches against British
Columbia and a Meraloma Select XI. [Schedule]

- In preparation for
the forthcoming ICC Trophy 2001 in Canada, Hong Kong players Tabarak Dar,
Mohammad Zubair and Saleem Malik will be attending the Australian Cricket
Academy in Adelaide for 2 weeks intensive training. Thanks to support
from ICC , ACB and the HKSDB the Hong Kong trio will be put through their
paces by Head Coach Rodney Marsh plus the other top Aussie coaches.
