Hayden went in to this match as the most consistent batsman
on this tour. He was the man in form and the Indians realised that Hayden should
be dismissed as early as possible. The chance came when Hayden was on 21; Sameer
Dighe (who replaced an injured Nayan Mongia behind the stumps) had a golden
opportunity to run Hayden out. Dighe made a complete mess of that chance and
Hayden was given a new life. An expensive miss indeed! Like all Aussies, Hayden
is one who makes the opposition pay for their mistakes.
