- Debuts: AGAM McCoubrey IP Shields (Ireland).
- Both debutantes were members of the Irish Under 19 side
which qualified for the Youth World Cup to be held in Sri Lanka
when they were runners up in the ECC Colts Championship
held in Belfast were Shields was the Captain.
- This may run out to be the last Irish match played at Ormeau. NICC were
leaving the ground, and would be sharing a ground with Collegians.
- The final date as to when this would start was not yet determined.
- The selection of the team for this match caused some difficulty for
the selectors, EC Joyce, RW McDaid and GL Molins were unavailable
from the team which played M.C.C.
- It also transpired that AT Rutherford had been banned for
one match over not playing against M.C.C., 4 of the original
team selected, JAM Molins, JA Bushe, AD Patterson
and WK McCallan cried off and were replaced
by the two debutantes, ND Carson and PJK Mooney.
- Others who had not played against M.C.C. were RD McGerrigle
and PG Gillespie.
- Dunlop's 100 was his third for Ireland and first in First Class Cricket.
It was in fact the first 100 scored for Ireland at Ormeau.
