The Electronic Telegraph Derbyshire v Nottinghamshire, National League 2nd division, Round 20
Neil Hallam - 30 August 1999

Plain sailing for Gallian

Jason gallian's 130 off 138 balls was more than enough to set Nottinghamshire up for their second victory over a weakened Derbyshire side in two days, this one, at Derby, by 138 runs.

Gallian shared a stand of 129 with Paul Johnson and another worth 91 with Chris Read to propel Notts to a score Derbyshire never looked like approaching.

Matt Cassar added an aggressive 66 to his Sunday century, but once he was out Derbyshire's last six wickets fell for the addition of only 26 runs.

Graeme Swann celebrated his England tour call-up with four wickets, a stunning catch by his ankles at backward point and 19 brisk runs as Northamptonshire stayed on course for promotion with a 27-run win at home to depleted Durham.
