The Electronic Telegraph Somerset v Nottinghamshire, National League Second Division, Round 07
Jed Pitman - 13 June 1999

Somerset rely on 127 stand

Somerset (231-3) beat Nottinghamshire (227-8) by 7 wickets

Peter Bowler and Piran Holloway scored their third National League fifties of the summer as Somerset beat Nottinghamshire with ease for the second time in a fortnight to stay joint top of the Second Division.

The pair's second-wicket stand of 127 at five runs per over ended when Bowler chipped a full toss from Vasbert Drakes to mid-on on 86 his highest one-day league score for Somerset - while Holloway enjoyed an unbeaten 70. Their partnership allowed the festival tent to be dismantled with 31 balls to spare.

Nottinghamshire's innings failed to reach the heights promised early by the diminutive Paul Johnson, who hit seven fours and one six in his 43.
